Welcome to Hartwell Farm Cottages
Enjoying a lovely rural setting, Lilac and Lavender Cottages are 200yds from our farmhouse home. Until the 1970s they were farm workers' cottages, but now have been transformed into two comfortable holiday cottages. They even have the old stone pigsties in their gardens! Each cottage has its own large private garden with lawn, trees and shrubs and there are barbeques and plenty of garden furniture. Many visitors have commented on the bird-life in the garden. Both cottages are extremely warm and spacious, furnished and equipped to a high standard. They sleep up to five people (if the extra bed is used) and you can book both cottages if you are a large family... grandparents in one and the younger family in the other!
They are on the southern edge of the Cotswolds, facing south and only 6 miles from the charming town of Cirencester and 2½ miles from the Cotswold Village of Bibury, described by William Morris as the most beautiful village in England. The cottages are conveniently placed for touring the Cotswolds, Cheltenham, Stratford and Bath. London is only 2 hours away by car, train or coach. There is excellent shopping in Cirencester with a Waitrose and Tesco or 2-3 miles away at village shops. Cirencester also offers a wealth of interesting independent shops and cafes.
The cottages overlook open fields where horses, cattle and sheep often graze. Beyond, there are wonderful views over open countryside as far as the Marlborough Downs. You can walk the extensive footpaths in the Coln Valley, which run through this part of the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) with excellent pubs along the way or within easy reach.
